 Tourism in Tenerife

The depressing worldwide economic climate would perhaps put many people off investing money in a new business, especially in a foreign country. With many countries economies seemingly having a vice tight grip on the ability of individuals to invest and spend money, it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn that the Tourism Industry in Tenerife is indeed buoyant to say the least.

Figures released by the Tenerife Tourist Board record double figure percentage increases in holidaymakers from key markets including the UK and Germany for 2010. It goes without saying that Tenerife relies heavily on British tourism, so these numbers are very encouraging for local businesses, and indeed future investors.

The Island continues to defy travel industry expectations as new statistics point to a sharp increase in tourist numbers over the summer. Tenerife has, over the last 18 months, seen a boom in tourist numbers. Non-UK sales of holidays to Tenerife are up 10.34% on 2009 figures, which assisted in bringing in a total of 450,554 tourists to the island in July of last year alone.

The United Kingdombusiness in Tenerife is the largest market for Canary Islands holidays and research conducted earlier in the summer saw Tenerife at first place in the top ten lists of the most visited island destinations in the world by British tourists.  The number of tourists from the United Kingdom and Germany have seen increases of 14.79% and 9.31% respectively over the last 18 months.

With hotels and apartment complexes in the South of Tenerife already boasting higher occupancy levels for the remainder 2011, it goes without saying that Tenerife is once again proving to be THE FAVOURED HOLIDAY DESTINATION for millions of tourists.

To cope with demand, the low budget airline Ryanair, has recently announced that from January 2011, they have secured Tenerife South Airport as a permanent base for a fleet of its aircraft. This investment will lead to even more flights being made available from the U.K and indeed its other European Hubs. This bodes well for the future of tourism on the Island and proves without doubt, that in the eyes of Travel Experts, Tenerife will remain at the top of the pile as the year round business and holiday destination, for many years to come.
